It was probably the most pickles I had seen in my life. Whole dishes, in fact, were dedicated to containing vast quantities of the canned cucumbers. This was one of my first experiences with an Anabaptist congregation outside of the Sunday morning service: a funeral for a beloved member of the church.

♪One of the tasks when I began my job here at the EMC office was to examine our external partnership: which were beneficial and which should change.

♪ Delegates gathered on June 29, 2024, in person at La Crete (Alta.) Christian Fellowship Church (LCCFC) and virtually over Zoom to hear of proposed changes to EMC gatherings and affiliations.

♪ “We do this because we want to better understand who we are so that we can make the necessary adjustments to better serve in our appointed roles within the kingdom of God and advance his work.”

Roseisle EMC , Roseisle, Manitoba THE HOLY SPIRIT has definitely been at work in our midst. We had three baptisms in 2022, and three in 2023. We pray for more this summer. There has been much interest in the catechism classes that Pastor Fernando Hiebert hosts every Sunday during the winter months.

Calvin Tiessen will provide EMC with a portion of his time to dedicate to recruitment, training, placement and retention of EMC missionaries, church planters and pastors. Calvin is an experienced cross-cultural worker currently on home assignment.

Media is one way some EMC missionaries minister: from radio work to filming projects, from social media campaigns to audio recordings distributed by WhatsApp.

Dear EMC family, these unusual times, combined with an online course on missionary care I’ve been taking during lock-down in Eastern Europe, have meant a lot of introspection.

Without the Western Gospel Mission movement, the EMC would not be as welcoming as it is today. It was one of the most significant periods in EMC church history (1946-1961).
